According to the Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI) for the third quarter of 2022, the average price of all hues and sizes of fancy colour diamonds increased by 1%, despite a 6.7% decrease in the price of white diamonds. The FCDI increased by 0.8% in the second quarter. "Fancy Vivids across all colour categories presented the highest increase (1.8%), with Fancy Vivid 8 carats demonstrating a rise of 3.6%, led by Fancy Vivid Pink 8 carats (5.5%)," according to a press release from the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF).
Yellow diamonds increased 1.4% in Q3 2022, with the Fancy Vivid 8 ct category experiencing the most rise at 4%. Pink diamonds increased by 0.9% overall in Q3, with Fancy Vivid 8 ct rising by 5.5%. Blue diamonds gained 0.6%, with Fancy Vivid 2 ct and 1.5 ct gaining 2.6% and 1.8%, respectively. Yellows of all sizes and saturations rose 3.4% on average over the last year, bBlues rose 1.8%, and pinks rose 3.7%.
