Trends are evolving in the world of engagement rings. Engagement rings are becoming more and more popular. They can now cost as much as $1,000. Those looking for a more ethical diamond may now select from a wide choice of lab-grown bling, and three-stone settings and rings with several stones are becoming increasingly popular.
A diamond, as the adage goes, is everlasting. Engagement ring styles, like other pieces of jewellery, come and go, reflecting the era in which they were fashionable.
As a result, we contacted Anna P. Jay, a private jeweller located in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Charleston, South Carolina, about the engagement ring themes she believes will be popular in 2023.
Engagement rings with ultra-thin bands or single, statement stones have been popular in recent years, but Jay predicts a surge in “chunky” pieces in 2023.
According to Jay, three-stone settings, for example, will be trendy in 2023.
“I think the three stone, with its type of past, present, and future depiction, will always be a timeless aesthetic,” Jay added.
She also believes that three-stone rings are appealing to folks who desire a large-looking ring.
“It’s a method for folks to achieve a bigger appearance on their hand without having to invest in a larger stone,” she explained.
Diamond Jewellery
Jewellery sales increased in 2022 as the economy recovered and visitor arrivals increased dramatically, with several businesses reporting double-digit increases. They also confirmed that pre-pandemic gold jewellery transactions occurred last year.
While demand for traditional jewellery remains strong, according to John Paul Alukkas, general director, worldwide operations, Joyalukkas Group, there is a trend in taste for bright designs, particularly among younger clients.
“There is also a predilection for diamond jewellery in addition to jewellery with precious stones. Personalised designs are also popular. Fine and stylish jewellery will be popular in the next years,” Alukkas stated.
Customers choosing diamond jewellery over gold jewellery, according to Shamlal Ahamed, Managing Director-International Operations, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, is one of the most significant industry trends occurring.
“There has been a constant growth of millennials throughout our consumer base, preferring to buy fashionable and lightweight jewellery in the lifestyle category as opposed to hefty items. “Investment in gold has also increased among both young and old investors as gold maintains its status as a safe-haven investment,” he said.
According to Anil Dhanak, managing director of Kanz, consumers in Dubai are spoilt for choice when it comes to jewellery buying due to the sheer quantity of merchants.
“Toi Et Moi” Trend
In the same line, Jay believes that “toi et moi” rings, which have two stones, one of which is often bigger than the other, will continue to be popular.
Celebrities like as Ariana Grande and Megan Fox have drawn toward the distinct look in recent years, and their popularity is expected to grow. Meghan Markle also received a “toi et moi” ring from Prince Harry. “It actually means to ‘you and me’ in French,” Jay explained of the lighthearted aesthetic, which seems like a significant engagement ring option for many.
The design has a contemporary style that will endure the test of time.
Colourful Engagement Rings
When most people think of engagement rings, they generally think of clear diamonds, but coloured diamonds and other durable stones can also be excellent options.
“Colour is certainly making a comeback, which is very interesting since there are so many different colours out there,” Jay explained. “The world of jewellery is more than simply diamonds.” When King Charles proposed to Princess Diana in 1981, she picked a sapphire engagement ring. The identical ring was later used to propose to Kate Middleton.
Today, Jay believes that many people would embrace the “toi et moi” aesthetic with colourful stones, because a clear diamond may be paired with a more colourful stone.
“It’s a method for folks to add colour to their diamonds,” Jay explained.
If you choose a stone other than a diamond for an engagement ring, be sure it is durable because it will be worn every day.
Thus, the price of a 1-carat diamond will be around INR 250000, depending on the diamond grade.
