Rio Tinto has launched the Argyle Rose, a piece of jewellery featuring a 1.36-carat Argyle Pink Diamond, one of the last to be extracted from the Argyle mine in Western Australia. The ring or pendant also includes 1.89 carats of pink and blue Argyle Diamonds and 2.80 carats of white diamonds. It is available for A$2m ($1.5m) through Western Australian jeweller Solid Gold Diamonds, who worked with Rio Tinto Minerals on the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner programme to preserve the legacy of the mine, which closed in 2020 after 37 years of operation.
Rio Tinto has unveiled a stunning piece of jewellery, the Argyle RoseTM, featuring a 1.36-carat radiant-shaped Argyle Pink Diamond™ of fancy deep pink. This rare diamond is one of the last to be mined from the Argyle mine in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The exclusive design of the Argyle RoseTM has a rose motif, encrusted with a total of 3.25 carats of rare Argyle pink and blue diamonds, surrounded by white diamonds and hand-set in platinum and 18-karat gold.
The 1.36-carat Argyle Pink Diamond™ of fancy deep pink is the heart of this unique jewellery piece. It is one of only twelve radiant-cut diamonds over 1 carat with a colour grading of 1P, from the last 30 years of production from Argyle. The surrounding petaled design features 1.89 carats of pink and blue Argyle Diamonds™ and 2.80 carats of white diamonds. This exquisite piece can be worn as a ring or statement pendant and is available for sale for A$2 million.

Renowned international jewellers lead the programme, paying tribute to the world’s most valuable diamonds with their world-class craftsmanship and evocative design.
The Argyle RoseTM was exclusively designed by Western Australian jeweller Solid Gold Diamonds, who have a long-standing partnership with Argyle Pink Diamonds. Peter Greene, Executive Chairman of Solid Gold Diamonds, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to design a true generational heirloom for the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon programme. The Argyle RoseTM will be available for sale through Solid Gold Diamonds, located in Perth.
The Argyle mine operated for 37 years and produced over 865 million carats of rough diamonds before ceasing operations in November 2020. The Argyle RoseTM is a testament to the legacy of the Argyle mine and the rare and precious diamonds that it produced.
